As the holidays draw near I am getting excited at the thoughts of what gifts we can get for Gradie. This is her second Christmas, but the first where I think she’ll be more interested in what’s going on than she was a year ago 🙂 However, it’s also really important, to both Jeanna and I, that the gifts Gradie receives are not only fun, but also having an educational aspect is really important. She’s at the age where she is learning so much, really absorbing everything that is going on around her.
Lucky for us VTech has a wide variety of toys that serve both purposes, perfectly – FUN & EDUCATIONAL!!! Even luckier for our little family is that I was approached to review four of these amazing toys;
- VTech® Chomp & Count Dino™ (Age 12-36 months)
- VTech® Sit-to-Stand Smart Cruiser™ (Age 6-36 months)
- VTech® Grow-Along Music Center™ (Age 12-36 months)
- VTech® Smart Shots Sports Center™ (Age 12-36 months)
There’s nothing NOT to love about these toys. First off – receiving all of these at the door made it feel like Christmas came early, although I am sure I was more excited than Gradie, she didn’t know what was in the box – yet!
VTech® Chomp & Count Dino
The first thing I opened up was the VTech® Chomp & Count Dino. Gradie loves sticking things into holes, so I was excited to have something constructive for her to practice this hand eye coordination skill with, and not be sticking random things in random places 🙂 .
The VTech® Chomp & Count Dino is for ages 12 through 36 months and I can definitely see Gradie palying with this one for some time to come. She will be able to learn colors, numbers as well as food. There are 8 pieces, each a different color with a different food on it. Each time Gradie sticks the pieces of ‘food’ into the dino’s mouth he recognizes what he is eating; he counts the number of pieces you’ve fed him, and is able to ask you to give him specific colors/foods.
As Gradie gets older she’ll be able to answer the questions that Dino asks when you push the question mark on his head, her cousin Elliot had a great time trying out this feature. Also, on the side of the VTech® Chomp & Count Dino there are 5 shape buttons which teach shapes and numbers, then you can spin the disc on your dino’s back and he will play sing-along songs. The dino can also be pushed or pulled by a string for even more fun melodies.
There really are so many different features to this toy that keep Gradie entertained for ages, and her cousins too when they come over to play, they’re 2 and 3 now and just love it. You can pick up the VTech® Chomp & Count Dino at VTechKids and of course at Amazon, and for just $19.99 this is a must have for your kids holiday wish list.
VTech® Sit-to-Stand Smart Cruiser
I’ve mentioned in reviews before, I absolutely LOVE products that grow with your child, and the VTech® Sit-to-Stand Smart Cruiser is one of those toys. With recommended ages between 6 and 36 months your child is bound to get plenty of use out of this toy.
Gradie first took to use this toy as a ‘walker’. She wasn’t quite up and walking yet and she found great use out of using it to steady herself to get around the living room, and all over at Grandma’s house. Now that she’s walking (everywhere) she likes to sit on it and is staring to figure out the concept of pushing herself around while on it.
She also really enjoys playing with the activity panel on the steering wheel, and why wouldn’t she? With over 80 songs, sounds and phrases she is learning all about opposites, words and her favorite songs. The Sit-to-Stand Smart Cruiser also has a fun front activity panel, more to keep Gradie occupied, and it has storage under the seat, which is great fun for Gradie, she especially LOVES hiding her mom’s keys, phones, and remotes in there.
VTech® Grow-Along Music Center
I mentioned above that one of Gradie’s favorite things is songs, really any music she just loves, and she’s at the stage now where she tried to bounce along to the tune, it’s the cutest thing. Naturally we have had a rough time trying to get her to stop playing with this Grow-Along Music Center 🙂 .
She mimics us when we sing into something, like the microphone on her Grow0-Along Music Center and as she is ‘singing’ into the mic, there are lights that correspond to her voice. She really thinks this is the greatest thing ever.
She can also push the instrument buttons that produce guitar, saxophone and drum noises, or the five animal keys that teach her about animals, colors and musical instruments. Your children can switch the Grow-Along Music Center between Learn & Play mode and Sing-Along mode to become learning super stars – who knows your kid could be the next Idol 😉
VTech® Smart Shots Sports Center
As I was growing up, with 3 older brothers, sports were always a huge part of our lives, and they continue to be now that we’re all adults, which I think is great – staying active and healthy. While I realize that Gradie is just 16 months old, I am happy that the VTech® Smart Shots Sports Center is allowing me to introduce her to sporting activities, and she’s learning at the same time. WIN – WIN!!
The Smart Shorts Sports Center has both a soccer net and a basketball hoop. Gradie is definitely still learning how to kick a ball, but this has given us more of a reason to teach her. She loves throwing the ball through the hoop, in fact she’ll throw just about anything through the hoop that will fit. Of course the fun sounds/counting that happen each time the ball is kicked into the net or thrown through the net encourages her to keep doing it.
The VTech® Smart Shots Sports Center has buttons, lights, songs, and more that keep Gradie coming back for more, she just can’t get enough, I am sure she has no idea she’s learning while she’s playing.
As with the other products you can pick up the VTech Smart Shots Sports Center (recommended age range is 12 to 36 months) at Amazon and VTechKids for $39.99. This is another great toy, at an amazing price, to add to the kids wish lists for grandparents and friends/family to pick up for them.
Now I know you cannot wait to get online and order these toys/update your children’s holiday gift wish lists, and while you’re doing that I encourage you to also head over to VTech on Facebook and Twitter that way you’ll be kept up to date on all new toys as they come out, you wouldn’t want to miss anything.
