I like all science projects that have some dynamic element or chemical reaction, but I would not recommend magnets and little pieces of magnetized sand or whatever it was. I did that when I was 8 and the stuff wouldn’t come off.

When I was in school, we once did a science experiment about the bacteria on your hands. We tested the surface on one random student’s hand and within several days, the petri dish was like…UGH. The bacteria colonies that had developed were enough to make me a compulsive hand-washer. Ick. So, that’s a pretty good one.

My daughter was into forensic chem. So, one interesting experiment was using dead pig parts and putting them in different environments to see how they decomposed. Pretty gross stuff.

I love anything with baking soda and vinegar! We add food coloring to vinegar and use an eye dropper to make colored bubbles on a cookie sheet covered with baking soda. It’s great fun!

I love anything hands-on and challenging.
When I was in school, I did one on how tweaking the proportions of ingredients affected the outcome of cookies when baked. 😛 A yummy, and easy “A”, that was technically chemistry. 🙂

My favorite experiment is making a volcano. I love to watch the reaction between the baking soda and the vinegar and if you add some dishwashing liquid you will get a better lava flow.
