On Fridays around these parts we stop, drop, and write.
For fun, for love of the sound of words, for play, for delight, for joy and celebration at the art of communication.
For only five short, bold, beautiful minutes. Unscripted and unedited. We just write without worrying if it’s just right or not.
Won’t you join us?
Unexpected…
A bond between an owner and a dog is one I don’t hink I’d ever be able to fully explain, but the commitment and the undying love is something I cherish I cannot live without.
I had that bond with Billy. He was a Staffordshire bull terrier, a short ‘stocky’ dog, but he was a power house. I loved that dog with every ounce of my body. From the time I was 13 I took him to dog training lessons every weekend, twice a weekend. He outweighed me and most everything with his learning was an uphill battle, but I persevered and stuck with it and him and I came out on top.
Then in December of 2007 I went to the Czech Republic to play hockey, I was gone for 2 short weeks, and when I returned, he was gone. Completely unexpected. He was just a few years old, it wasn’t his time!! He got tick bite fever while I was gone and due to poor veterinary care was not able to beat it.
It was unexpected, it broke my heart, I didn’t get to say goodbye. I hope that he knows that I loved him, I still do. I missed him every day I was gone and I still do now that he is gone.
My time is up.
This is one of the few photos I have, it has all 3 of the dogs we had while I was a kid, Billy is in between my legs, dark brown little guy.

I’m so sorry. Yes- Billy will definitely hold a place in your heart forever; I understand completely that indescribable bond we have with our furry friends.

I still get the shivers when I go past that vet thanks to his neglect Billy died. Debs Billy knew just how much you loved him my girl. Remember how many times he sent Anthony to the doc for stitches he took his attack work so seriously. Remember how Anthony said you would never be able to train Billy as Staffies are hard to train and you were so small and he was so strong and at the end of the first year of training you got the trophy for the most determined trainer or something like that, actually whatever happened to that trophy girl. He was such a loving friend to you.

We have HUGE love over here for all of our furry babies too …
We lost my first ‘own’ love, Chanel last year at 20 … and now every morning I race to check on Lilly. 12 and a half and know we don’t have long with her. …
Love to you and your memories xxx

So sorry for your loss. I know all too well the pain. I just lost my precious Tasha 3 weeks ago and still cry for her – she’s on my blog. I miss her every single day. She was my shadow. In 2006 I lost my male boxer and miss him as much to this day.
Stumbling you from MBS
