This morning I was lucky enough to tour the brand new Barnes & Noble that will be opening at CityPlace in Woodbury at 9am tomorrow – July 24, 2019.
The store is a new prototype for Barnes & Noble and I have to say I am a big fan. It feels open, it is bright, has numerous areas to gather to discuss books, or individual tables to sit at and get some work done while sipping on some delicious coffee from The Café – including Starbucks nitro cold brew which they have on tap.
The old Barnes & Noble location in Woodbury has been there for 27 years, a solid history in the community, now moving into this new space but continuing their solid dedication to Woodbury and surrounding neighborhoods. Frank Morabito, Vice President of Stores, explained that “it will feature a full assortment of books at its core, with an amazing selection of educational toys and games, family games and puzzles, and curated gift items for avid readers.”
The store features modern design aesthetics, including oak bookshelves and a mix of wood-grain tile and carpet throughout. Lower profile bookshelves provide customers with a panoramic view of the store, contributing to an open and airy feel. Two large “book theaters” invite customers to discover books in a new 360-degree experience. Illuminated bookcases are incorporated into the store to further enhance discovery.
As a mom of young children I am thrilled to let you know that the children’s area at this new location is fantastic! Complete with a LEGO® activity table (with Duplo blocks so little ones don’t eat the smaller sized Lego blocks) and dedicated Storytime space, comprised of the cutest benches perfect sized for our youngest readers.
As with other Barnes & Noble locations the Woodbury location will have story time for the kids every Saturday at 11am. I cannot wait to attend our first at this location this weekend.
Really – this Barnes & Noble has something for everyone. Community seating around a table to individual comfortable chairs, customers of all ages will have a variety of seating options throughout the store, allowing them to curl up alone with a good book or gather with a small group of friends.
NOTE: the community worktable features easily accessible USB/AC outlets as well as charging ‘mats’ built into the table for wireless charging.
Earlier I mentioned sipping on delicious coffee, this comes from The Café which features a brand-new look and offers a wide selection of Starbucks® beverages. In addition to fresh baked goods, savory sandwiches, flatbreads, quiches and a soup of the day.
Barnes & Noble Woodbury is dedicated to supporting the community and hosting events of interest to customers, from book fairs for local schools to book signings and Storytimes. A 700-square-foot flexible event space will be ideal for author events and book signings. Contact Barnes & Noble Woodbury for more details on events and activities.
Barnes & Noble Woodbury, opening on July 24, 2019, is located at 375 Radio Drive, Woodbury, Minnesota.
