I love playing with Gradie, I really do. However, if we’re being honest, you can only play that many rounds of Hide & Seek before you start to loose your mind a little, but Gradie can play it all day long.
This is why I was very excited to work with Identity Games to try out their Elmo’s World Hide & Seek. It is a game changer in the hide & seek world and best part, you don’t have to hide yourself in every nook and cranny in your house for hours on end.
Elmo’s World Hide & Seek comes with an Elmo Doll, 24 location cards and instructions. It really is a twist on a game we already all know and love. You are still very much playing with your child, or they can play with each other if there are more children, but you’re just not trying to get into the small hiding spots anymore, which is a win in my book.
Elmo’s World Hide & Seek is for kids aged 1-5 and it’s great because Elmo talks. That’s right, get batteries in him and he’ll talk away. This makes finding him that much easier, especially for younger kids.
There are 3 levels at which you can play this game. With the youngest kids you can simply hide Elmo under a blankie or a toy and as Elmo talks they’ll be able to navigate their way to finding him. Level 2 you play by having one child close their eyes and count to ten, while the other player hides Elmo.
Level 3 allows you to use the location cards that come with the game, which are used as as clues! Choose 3 cards and have the child cover his or her eyes while you count to 10 and hide Elmo in one of the 3 places indicated by the cards. This level can be played with the sound on or off. Turn over the location cards and allow the child to start looking for Elmo near any of the 3 places.
As the kids are looking for Elmo he will call out to them, encourage them to keep looking and when he’s found he’ll exclaim “Yay, you found Elmo,” and then adds his famous chuckle “hehehe.”
It’s such an easy concept and it’ll keep the kids entertained for hours. We’ve played many hours of Elmo’s World Hide & Seek in our home and we absolutely love it.
