On June 29th, 2017, after almost 18 years, I received my American Citizenship. I cannot tell you quite what it feels like but I can tell you that the 4th of July was extra special for me this year.
To make this Patriotic holiday that much more special in our home we decided we’d have our first annual ‘Art Show’.
My original intent was to create art pieces to celebrate the 4th, however, creating art and doing crafts with a 4 year old doesn’t always go as planned. I don’t mind though because each piece created is a celebration of Gradie, her independence and fun spirit shines through.
While we didn’t get the USA flag done we were successful in creating firework art pieces and that was pretty fitting to celebrate the 4th and my citizenship. They’re easy to make and perfect for little hands.
Take an empty toilet roll and cut strips into it; shown below.
Pour some paint into a bowl or plate, colors of your choice. Then you simply dip the prepared toilet roll into the paint and place it down onto the paper. Each impression will look like fireworks going off.
As we all know July brings us hot temperatures and here in Minnesota it brings a lot of humidity too. Staying hydrated during our art show preparations was very important and Gradie loved having lots of Juicy Juice on hand. I am lucky that she decided to share with me too – whoever says juice boxes are for kids clearly don’t know me, I love them!
I have to admit our first annual 4th of July Art Show was a major success. Summer time is the perfect time to create life long memories while spending quality family time together.
While you’re out and about be sure to check out these recipes for fun and delicious ways to stay this summer with Juicy Juice recipes – check them all out!! Especially the Watermelon Slushie and Strawberry Watermelon Twist.

What a cute art project idea! Simple and easy for kids! I’ve not seen these drinks yet and will have to look for them–we drink only 100% juice products at our house! No corn syrup allowed! 😉
