    We all get together as a family. We exchange gifts and have brunch. We spend the day together and in the evening we have a great meal and talk about what all God has done for us. We have a Happy Birthday Jesus cake for one of our desserts.

    Hubs and I go to the Children’s Mass on Christmas Eve and afterwards all the boys and their sig figs arrive. We have dinner and “merry” and follow up with gift giving. This way the guys can all go to the ladies side on Christmas day.

    We put up our tree, decorate the yard, go look at lights and have a family movie night with Christmas movies Thanksgiving weekend. The weekend before (or in the case this year, Friday) Christmas Eve we get together with aunts, uncles, cousins, etc and bake cookies, make candy for our family gathering on Christmas Eve. Christmas Eve we have a full day together (I usually host) – lots of fun, games, laughs, great food and yummy treats. Christmas Day is spent at home, since my dad passed my mom spends the night with us to see the kids open presents in the morning

    Some of my holiday traditions are decorating the tree every year with my husband while we listen to old 40’s and 50’s holiday music. Then every Christmas Eve we head to his mother’s house and have a big family get-together over there. Lots of gifts and good food! I look forward to it every year. πŸ™‚

    Unfortunately all my family is gone now, so havn’t had any tradional celebrations for many years now, but there we many things we did together such as baking cookies and taking them around to the neighbors. Making snowforts and having snowball fights… waiting for the parents to leave so we could find the hidden presents…

    My favorite holiday tradition is when we go over to my mom’s and dad’s house on Christmas Eve. My daughters and I watch Christmas movies such as Home Alone 1, 2 and 3 and we sing Christmas songs during the commercial breaks.

    Christmas eve party at my aunt & uncles house where they always serve clam chowder. Then midnight mass. Next morning we open presents when everyone is up, then we lounge around the house in our pj’s playing with presents, and eating breakfast.

    We always have one present for everyone on Christmas Eve (that is pajamas so we all look good for the pictures in the morning). The youngest also get a movie package with a new Christmas movie and snacks for the family to enjoy during the movie that night. We usually have an early afternoon dinner. This, of course, is always Ham πŸ™‚ My one daughter would never forgive me if we didn’t! LOL

    On Christmas Eve my 3 grown girls and their families go to a candle light service together.
    After it is over everyone comes to my house for dinner and the opening of gifts. I read the Christmas story to all of my grandchildren ( 11 beautiful children ranging in age from 1 to 19).
    It is a wonderful evening together.

    We hide a pickle- shaped ornament on the tree. The child who finds it can open a special gift (usually a DVD, board game, or snack that can be shared with the others.)

    We attend Christmas eve mass followed by snacks and caroling at my mom’s. Christmas morning we do gifts with our daughter, eat our annual coffee cake and orange Christmas morning breakfast (that I have been having since I was a little girl) and then head to my mom’s for Christmas lunch and gifts.

    We had one of our Xmas traditions this past Saturday: our annual Christmas Cookie Bake i.e. we get all the kids from the extended family & friends together for an afternoon of baking / decorating Xmas cookies !
