Gradie is counting now – I know right, how’d she ever get big enough to do that? She counts really well but we’re working on identifying the numbers while she counts, or asking her to point out a certain number.
This is where the Learning Resources Counterpillar has really stepped in to help us out. It has made learning to identify the numbers and counting easier and a whole lot of fun.
As you can see below, she loves to count now and point to the number she is counting. Granted it’s still a learning process we are making a lot of progress and she gets so excited and of course her moms are so proud of her.
I love that it is a more ‘basic’ toy; it doesn’t require your child’s college fund to pay for batteries to make it function for what feels like 20 minutes before they have to be replaced again. We were able to get to work right after taking it out of the packaging.
The little beads are perfectly sized for Gradie’s little hands. Plus they’re fun colors and this adds another perspective to the fun of playing while learning.
With two rows of beads, each with 10, Gradie is working on mastering counting above 10 too and we’re doing less and less of counting 11, 12, 16, 18. It really is helping her out, we’re missing fewer numbers, when counting above 10, so I’ve definitely noticed a difference there too.
One last fun feature of the Learning Resources Counterpillar is that the ‘Counterpillar’ actually acts as a useful handle that allows Gradie to carry it around with her. This frequently means it accompanies us on trips to Papa’s house. She’s all about showing off how well she is counting and identifying the numbers.
