George & Georgette ~ a new take on kids shoes!!

August 24, 2016 By Africa

Review disclosure

A girl can never have too many shoes, I’ve said this before and I say it again & again!  However, what we don’t need is another pair of the ‘same’ kind of shoes we already have a few pairs of.  Which is why I literally JUMPED at the opportunity to review the brand new line of shoes from George & Georgette.

Like you, I hadn’t heard of George & Georgette before seeing them pop up on my Instagram feed.  They reached out and asked me to review their shoes – I headed over to their website and the only hard decision I had to make was WHICH pair would I choose for Gradie.

George & Georgette

George & Georgette was started by sisters, twin sisters, who used to trade shoes when their mom would buy them the same pair in different colors.  Now that they are separated by oceans, one living in NYC and one in Brussels, Belgium, they decided to start a collection of mismatched shoes for kids!  Their idea behind George (the left shoe) & Georgette (the right shoe) is to create

TWIN SHOES, shoes that are not identical but complement each other.  Shoes sometimes very similar, sometimes not . Just like real life twins!

George & Georgette ~ a new take on kids shoes!!

We decided on the Nature pair of shoes and since we’ve received them I have lost count of the number of compliments we’ve received on them.  As you can see in the pictures they’re perfectly made, mismatched shoes.  Gradie absolutely loves getting to put on her shoes that are a pair, but are different.

Gradie is 3 and a bit now.  She runs, she falls, she scuffs her shoes, she’s a toddler – ‘nough said’!  She has put her pair of George & Georgette’s to the test and I’m glad to report they’ve stood up to all she’s thrown at them thus far.

Gradie loves to tell everyone that her one shoe has a cloud on the strap and the other a leaf.  She is also always telling people that her one shoe has pretty grass and flowers and the other a map, and as she explains it, maps show you where we live and were Ouma & Oupa (her grandparents who live in South Africa) live.

George & Georgette ~ a new take on kids shoes!!

The creators of the George & Georgette collection of shoes worked to create shoes that would have people looking and starting conversations, and from our experience we can say that they were successful!!

At just $45 per pair you’ll be able to get our kids in a pair (or two) and I am confident they’ll love them.  REMEMBER that these would also make a great gift from aunty/uncle and Grandma/Grandpa.

George & Georgette - a new take on kids shoes!!

While you’re online browsing the George & Georgette collection of shoes I encourage you to follow along via their social media outlets, I definitely am, so that I am first to know of any new shoes coming up and there’s a possibility there will be a line for women too, count me IN!!

Another aspect of this great company is The Shoe Box.  All of their shoes are delivered in a shoe box, but it is so much more than just another shoe box.  The gals over at George & Georgette have a vision to help those less fortunate then ourselves.

Their hope is that you’ll take the box, remove your brand new shoes and replace them with something useful, build up the handles and find someone in need.  Make eye contact with them, say hello and give to them the box that is filled with something they can use; like food stuffs, or non food items, clothing etc.

This initiative gives us an easy way to talk about homelessness with our kids and to show them that helping those less fortunate then ourselves is absolutely the right thing to do.

It’s our little contribution for a better world where homeless people are properly acknowledged”.

A small company with a big heart and I am glad to share them with you!!

I am also glad to let you know that George & Georgette have sponsored a fun giveaway!!

George & Georgette Kids shoes are simply a hoot! They are so cute and what a clever idea. The shoes can also be used in teaching your child how they are alike but different and open up a learning discussion with your child about how the shoes relate to the theme. These shoes are very unique.
