Zimmerman’s Best Kept Secrets…Revealed!!!

Building my travel and attractions section of Africa’s Blog I am excited to share with you a great experience I had in Zimmerman, Minnesota recently.  

Zimmerman’s Best Kept Secrets…Revealed

I was invited to join a few other blogging friends to see all that this great town has to offer.  Zimmerman is a small town, about 40 miles north on 169 from Minneapolis, and is full of many hidden secrets and I am so excited to share with you all that I discovered.

To start our night out Stacey McDevitt, the owner of Ramshackled Treasures, and very proud resident of Zimmerman, shared with us what our night would entail and her hope that we can share with our readers that Zimmerman truly is so much more then just a pit stop as you head to northern MN.  She encourages you to stop in on Fremont and see all they have to offer.

First we were treated to some delicious food at The Whistling Pickle.  We each got to sample a plate of chicken wings, pickle fries and pickle poppers.   

Gradie joined me on this adventure (as we call our fun trips) and I was lucky to get any of the pickles fries and chicken wings,  she absolutely loved them as did I.   Luckily I got to eat the pickle poppers all by myself.   We were also treated to delicious cupcakes and sent on our way with a cute bottle of Whistling Pickle pickles.  

Our first retail stop was ZoChic Travelling Boutique.  What a unique idea this is, a travelling clothing boutique store that comes to your home or event.  Along with their travelling boutique they now have store hours at their Zimmerman location.  

Be sure to check out the ZoChic Facebook page to learn all about their unique concept and how you can book a party with them and when you can visit the store, which has a fast changing inventory, so you’ll always find unique, cute clothing.  

We then headed next door to The Tattooed Lady – a tattoo shop like I’ve never seen before.  You can get a tattoo from an award winning tattoo artist and pick up fine art and handmade crafts and goods right in downtown Zimmerman.  

Sonia De Benetti-Carlisle is an amazing artist who has an MFA from Moorhead State.  She is a very talented, and in demand tattoo artist, PLUS her tattoo shop houses an art gallery displaying her beautiful charcoal artwork as well as other talented artists work.  

I loved seeing and learning about Nelson Nursery. Did you know that 25,000 wreaths are made in Zimmerman, MN?  They have fun family celebrations for each holiday, including a fun fall festival that is definitely on our list to check out this fall.  A local favorite – Nelson Nursery has been family owned and serving Zimmerman since 1979.  

Zimmerman has all repurpose & refurbish fans covered!!

If you’re into refurbished and repurposed you’ll love our next few stops.  First up is Sassy Bean Boutique – a local upscale, boutique style secondhand store.  They have everything you might be looking for from clothing to vintage items, toys and more. 

The Shoppes on Fremont is one location that houses many shoppes.  Here you’ll truly be able to find something for every room in and outside of your home.  From what I was able to browse the prices were reasonable and I am sure you’ll find yourself a great deal.

I know a lot of people have already heard of Ramshackled Treasures and if you haven’t you have now.  Ramshackled Treasures is located in the oldest house in Zimmerman and there are seven rooms that are full of unique treasures, unique gifts, one-of-a-kind finds, and so much more.  Once again, I am convinced you’ll be able to find what you’re looking for, and likely a little more!

Ramshackled Treasures combines the talents of 16 women to create a cute little shop that is literally bursting with creativity and one-of-a-kind items.  (Even the closets and bathroom are filled with amazing items). 

Zimmerman Floral and Gifts is the local florist and so much more.  You can get flowers for any occasion as well as balloons, gifts and tuxedo rental.  I encourage you to check out their photo albums shared on their Facebook page to see the great work they do.  

Ashley Taylor Salon & Spa is your one stop shop for everything you need to make yourself feel beautiful.  Whether you need to get a massage, or your hair and nails done, tanning, or ALL of them, you can get it taken care of at Ashley Taylor.  

One thing that strikes you about all of the wonderful ladies we got to meet during our visit to Zimmerman is their absolute love of their businesses AND of the town itself.  Caryn was great in sharing with all of us what it is her salon does and took us on a fun, guided tour. 

 Our evening wrapped up at Zimmerman Bar & Grill (ZBG) where we were provided their Mexican Moonshine Margaritas, pizzas and the absolute best cheesy bread I’ve ever had.  I will admit I am a huge fan of cheesy bread – and theirs definitely is worth the visit!!  I’ll also admit that I am not a fan of margaritas but I really did like the Strawberry Moonshine Margarita that ZBG is well known for – another must try when you visit Zimmerman.
