I am excited to introduce a new category to Africa’s Blog – Attractions – and how fun to have Valleyfair, in Shakopee, MN be my first featured attraction.
As you know, my wife, Jeanna and I have a very active, always on the go, almost 3 year old and we’re always looking for fun things to do with her. Now, I’ll be the first to say I wouldn’t have thought that an amusement park would be a good idea for a child this young – BUT I was pleasantly surprised.
We were lucky enough to visit on a rather warm Saturday afternoon, so we headed directly to Soak City.
As you can tell we had an absolute blast. Again I have to remind you that Gradie is just (almost) 3, and as such we were not able to do the rides in Soak City. However, that didn’t stop us from having an absolute blast.
Splash Station is perfect for the little ones, designed for kids under 54 inches. I especially love that there is a full section just for the smaller kids. Watching Gradie run around, squealing with delight as she ran through the sprinklers and went down the slides, over and over again, brings true happiness to our hearts. There is something about that little squeal, the pure delight, the carefree running back and forth that makes us mom’s so happy.
Next we were onto Breakers Bay Wave pool. The zero-depth entry to the wave pool is perfect for youngsters and the bubbling sprouts add to the attraction. Even when the waves started Gradie absolutely loved it and got so excited waiting for the next wave to come her way. Seeing her experience this for the first time is a memory we’ll not soon forget.
It has been years since I last visited Valleyfair and I sure didn’t look for children friendly rides as there was no need. After our visit this month I am happy to report that Valleyfair has so much to keep the kids entertained in Planet Snoopy.
There are numerous kid friendly rides, Gradie even rode her very first ride all by herself, “Linus Beetle Bugs” (when did she get this big?). Of course there were rides that Jeanna and I took chances to ride on with her and a couple we all rode on together.
We made so many amazing memories, enjoyed as many photo opps as possible, and overall had the very best FIRST TIMER experience at Valleyfair.
We look forward to making this a family summer tradition, and there is a very high likelihood we will return this summer, and of course for all the fun activities they have in the fall and for Halloween.
Be sure to visit the Valleyfair website for all the park information you need, prices, hours, events, etc. And be sure to follow their social media outlets – that way you won’t miss out on any fun memory making opportunities;
