I know what you’re saying Bizaard WHAT? I wasn’t sure what this show was all about before we got to preview the first episode, tour the set and meet the cast.
The live-action comedy follows Paige and Frankie, quirky best friends who write funny songs and create music comedy videos for their online channel, “Bizaardvark.”
Of course I learned all about the show during our visit and I am excited to share it with you. First up, the reason for the name –
Their fellow 7th graders began producing music comedy videos three years prior as a creative way to own their weirdness and poke fun at the challenges (and mishaps) they face growing up, including feeling like outsiders at their school, Hollander Prep. They came up with the name of their channel while flipping through the dictionary (A: aardvark. B: bizarre… Bizaardvark!). Even though many of their classmates don’t quite understand their comedy, the offbeat sense of humor of “Bizaardvark” now how has a growing fan base including the girls’ longtime friend, Bernard “Bernie” Schotz.
In a preppy school where they feel they just don’t fit in, Paige and Frankie turn to their ‘vlogging’ to express their own uniqueness. They embrace that they are ‘different’ and making their videos is something that both girls love and they work hard to reach 10,000 subscribers so that they are able to produce their videos at the highly sought after Vuuugle Studios.
This is where the first episode takes us, through their first couple days at the Vuuugle studios, through attempting to fit in there and in through their journey to make new friends.
I believe that this show will have a strong impact on our ‘young adults’ out there, and to be completely honest, I have set my DVR to record the show as I really enjoyed the first episode that much.
Bizaardvark stars the following extremely talented actors; Olivia Rodrigo (American Girl’s “Grace Stirs Up Success”) as Paige Olvera, Madison Hu (“Best Friends Whenever”) as Frankie Wong, Jake Paul (YouTube Red’s “Dance Camp”) as the lovable and wild Dirk Mann, DeVore Ledridge as Southern DIY diva Amelia Duckworth, and Ethan Wacker (“Miles from Tomorrowland,” “K.C. Undercover”) as the overly-confident Bernard “Bernie” Schotz.
Bizaardvark premieres on Disney Channel on Friday, June 24 at 9:45pm, right after the premiere of Adventures in Babysitting!
Of course you should follow Bizaardvark via their social media outlets, because, well why not?!
Disclosure: Disney provided me with an all expenses paid trip to Los Angeles including travel, accommodations and activities. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
