We all prefer the over the ear headphones because it seems like the buds hurt our ears!
We do like the ear headphones because they are the most comfortable and the kiddos can do it themselves.
My kids use both headphones and earbuds. My oldest uses ear buds, my middle uses headphones, and my youngest prefers ear buds, but will use either. Not sure why they have their preferences, they just like them better I guess.
We prefer over-the-ear headphones because our hair pulls out the ear buds.
