I’ve posted before about just how ‘needy’ toddlers are. While I poke fun at this, I have learned that I need to keep an ‘on the go’ organizer in my car – for those just in case moments where you have forgotten something that you need to keep your toddler happy, clean, dry, fed and entertained!
This is my listing of toddler travel must haves;
- Spare diapers & wipes. I’m not talking your regular diaper bag, I’m talking SPARE diapers for the time you run out, for the time you simply forget the diaper bag all together. Whatever the reason, you need to have these spare diapers for that ‘just in case’ moment coming true and I think the spare wipes speaks for itself, be it a quick diaper change, or to clean a mess.
- Change of clothing. For so many reasons you’d think this one would be obvious but I can’t tell you how many times, in 2.5 years, we have needed this change of clothing and for whatever reason there isn’t one in her diaper bag.
To assist with keeping the clothing your child has on clean, be sure to pick up Tommee Tippee’s easy roll bibs. They’re a bib, but not like the old fashioned fabric bibs, they have a ‘crumb catcher’, they roll up easily to store in your travel organizer and they’re easy to clean off once used, no need to take inside and wash. - A couple toys. Toys you know your little one likes and that entertain them. I find these especially useful when we are unexpectedly going to grab a bite to eat, so she has something to play with.
- Blanket. The winter can be harsh, keeping our little ones warm and safe is important and we know how jackets are unsafe in their car seat. Having a spare blanket will keep them warm and often comforts them too (we all know how temperamental toddlers can be!)
- Sippy Cup. There will be the time you leave the house without a sippy cup, especially when your little one is transitioning away from bottles. To use in our on the go travel organizer we love the Tommee Tippee insulated straw tumbler at 9oz capacity it is great to use when your little one just HAS to have something to drink. Of course Tommee Tippee has a wide range of sippy’s and cups, for ages 4+ months, including their new Filter Water bottle, I am sure you could find the perfect one for your child.
- Spare tableware. Toddlers are temperamental (that’s what we’ll call it) and when they are hungry they generally want to eat, like immediately. For this reason we never leave the home without our Easy Scoop Feeding Bowl, also from Tommee Tippee. It comes complete with a lid and a spoon that you can store in the lid – its genius!! The best part is that you can store some snacks in it as the lid is leak proof and if you need to feed other food items you can with the attached spoon.
This is our list of travel must haves, making being on the go easier to accomplish with a feisty, active, fun loving toddler in tow.
Do you have any items you’d add, anything that were travel must haves for your travels with your kids?
