Winters in Minnesota can get extreme!! I grew up in South Africa; we don’t experience anything even close to this over there. I have dealt with the winters as well as can be expected, they are not my favorite season (far from it) but I get through them.
However, I now have a 2 year old that I need to help keep safe and WARM! I have never thought about what a child needs to keep warm – well not before having Gradie, there was no need to. Now that’s changed and this is very important to me. I am her defense against the extreme temperatures and conditions we face here.
Personally I used to throw on a sweatshirt and RUN from my car to the building I was going to etc. but this can’t be done anymore, I need to get Gradie out of the car, get her jacket on (no jackets on in the car seat in our family – safety first!!), get her hat on, her mittens and then get her into her stroller.
Thank goodness I was approached by Carhartt Kids to review some of their kid’s line of products and share my thoughts with you all. LUCKY Gradie – she got a couple really nice items and has already worn them when she’s accompanied me to the ice rink.
We received the toddler Washed Microsanded Canvas Overalls that are flannel lined and the toddler Redwood Jacket that is Sherpa lined. Oh I forgot to mention – both are in PINK, just perfect for our little princess!
Redwood Jacket features;
- 9-ounce, 100% cotton microsanded canvas
- 8-ounce, 100% polyester quilted taffeta sleeve lining
- 100% polyester Sherpa body lining
- Large pouch pocket
We definitely give this jacket 2 thumbs up!! It is enough to keep your child warm while not been too big and bulky for them to wear while getting around. Gradie is just a tiny 2 year old so this really matters as she battles in things that are too bulky to allow her to move freely – and we all know you cannot restrain a 2 year old. The Sherpa body lining is soft and extremely warm and Gradie loves hiding all her treasures in the large pockets.
As we’ve been to the rink a few times in this outfit, see the pictures above, it has gone through the washer numerous times (toddlers are dirty) and it has held up great. Followed the laundry instructions and all has turned out great!
Washed Microsanded Canvas Overalls;
- 9-ounce, 100% cotton microsanded canvas
- Flannel lining
- Adjustable shoulder strap
- Bib pocket
These are probably the cutest ‘cold weather’ clothes Gradie has EVER owned!! Just like the jacket they’re pink and they’re lined with the cutest flannel lining. I can’t even remember how many compliments we’ve received from people seeing Gradie in these overalls.
We love the adjustable shoulder strap as I said Gradie is tiny for 2 and we’re able to adjust the strap so that they fit her perfectly. As with the jacket they have held up great in the wash and we absolutely give them a hearty 2 thumbs up for your kid’s wardrobe this winter!!

I looove Carhartt. When my daughter was 7 months old my parents bought her pink overalls with a pink camo shirt for when she was 2 years old. It’s still sitting in her closet and every time I look at it I smile. 🙂
