It’s Halloween time!!  Not sure how it is already October, where did 2015 go?  Nonetheless it is time to prepare for Halloween and that is why I wanted to share this FUN Crazy Eye Cookie recipe with you.  The kids are guaranteed to love it and they’ll be a hit at all your Halloween gatherings!!

Celebrate Halloween with these Crazy Eye Cookies!!

Cookie Ingredients:

1 package of Oreo cookies
1 bag of chocolate M & M’s – brown shell
Royal Icing (ingredients below)

Icing Ingredients: 

2 egg whites
1 C powder sugar
1/2 tsp cream of tartar
Orange, purple and red  gel food coloring

Celebrate Halloween with these Crazy Eye Cookies

Icing Directions:

  • Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl mixing on medium speed for 4 minutes. (except your food coloring)
  • If icing is  not stiff enough add 1/4 C powder sugar.
  • Spoon the icing into a bowl. Divide the icing into three bowls.
  • Add several drops of orange gel food coloring in the first bowl of icing. Stir well to mix the color.
  • Add several drops of purple gel food coloring in the second  bowl of icing. Stir well to mix the color.
  • Add several drops of red gel food coloring in the third bowl of icing. Stir well to mix the color.
  • Spoon the colored icings into separate frosting bags with small tips.

OPTIONAL:  Buy red, purple and orange gel icing in your local stores in the cake isle. They are advertised for cake writing.  You can also order them from Amazon.com.

Cookie Directions:

  • Remove the top cookie from the Oreo.
  • Leaving the filling of the bottom of the Oreo cookie.
  • Using the orange and purple (alternating) icing make a circle in the middle of the filling covered cookie.
  • Place a M & M in the center of the icing.
  • Draw four  red lines from the middle of the cookie (the eye) to the edge.  Displaying red blood shot eyes.
  • Allow for the icing to dry for 30 minutes.
