Lutron Maestro Occupancy/Vacancy Sensor – Product Review

July 11, 2015 By Africa

Lutron Maestro Occupancy/Vacancy Sensing Switch

In today’s day and age who ISN’T looking for ways to make life EASIER – I know I am.  I just don’t have enough hands free to do things some times, such as turn on the light switch when you come into the house carrying a toddler, a diaper bag, and who knows what all else.  Well – that is no longer a problem for me, not since I received the Lutron Maestro Occupancy/Vacancy Sensor.

Lutron Maestro Occupancy/Vacancy Sensing Switch

The Lutron Maestro® Occupancy/Vacancy Sensor can automatically turn lights on when you enter a room and off when you leave, so you don’t have to worry about lights being left on when nobody is in the room.  Besides for the obvious of how easy this makes life when you have full hands, there are many other benefits too;

  • Adds convenience and energy-savings to any room by automatically turning lights on and off
  • Offered in a variety of colors to match décor beautifully
  • Complements Lutron family of Maestro smart controls including dimmers, fan controls and timers.

Who doesn’t want to save money, with the cost of power and heating/cooling these days, the Lutron Maestro Occupancy/Vacancy Sensor helps to save dollars that you would usually waste by leaving lights on when no one is in the room.

Lutron Maestro OccupancyVacancy Sensing Switch Review

I am sure you’re wondering just how this works.  I know I was when I first received it.  Don’t get me wrong I did NOT install the light switch, I am not much for that sort of stuff, I had my dad take care of that, and he simply followed the instructions and in no time at all it was installed and ready to go.  The Maestro sensors work with all types of bulbs, such as incandescents, halogens, dimmable compact fluorescents (CFLs) and dimmable LEDs, there is no special wiring required.

They have ‘Patented Ambient Light Detect’ which senses daylight that means that your lights will only turn on when needed.  When the sensors are in use they detect fine movements and ensure that the lights will stay on, and you are able to adjust the sensitivity if needed.  After just a little bit of tweaking we had our sensor set up and ready to go.

You can use your Lutron Maestro Occupancy/Vacancy Sensor in two different modes – occupancy and vacancy.  Occupancy mode turns the lights on when you enter a room, are present in the room and turns them off when you leave.  Vacancy mode allows you to turn on light manually when you enter the room and it turns the light off automatically when you leave.

While you’re able to install the Lutron Maestro Occupancy/Vacancy Sensor in any room you’d like, I suggest you get yours today and install it in the laundry room, garage, bathroom and children’s rooms.  The laundry room and garage you often have your hands full when you enter and the bathroom and children’s room lights are often left on by our little ones, so installing the sensor switch can help you out and also save your $$.

These switches are available in a wide variety of colors and I am confident you’ll find just the color needed for your home.

If you head to your local home improvement store, online retailers such as Amazon, and of course on Lutron.com, you can pick up the one of two models, one version for small rooms and one for large rooms, priced from $29.  While you’re online I also highly recommend you follow Lutron on Facebook, Twitter, & Pinterest – that way you won’t miss out on any of their exciting product developments and promotions.

I encourage you to check back in a few days as I will be hosting a giveaway where a lucky winner will receive a

Lutron Maestro Occupancy/Vacancy Sensor.

Very cool! I didn’t even know this existed! I need it!! The kids are always leaving the lights on in the kitchen. They’re teenagers and should know better, but I’ll come down at 6:00 a.m. to find the lights have been on all night.

These are VERY cool! Super convenient! I’d have to install them in every room of the house because if I got used to them in one room I’d be leaving the lights on in all the other rooms all the time!

I had never heard of these before and I’m so glad I have now. With 2 kids plus our pets I’m alway carrying in a tpn, especially groceries and I have to walk into a dark house. The 1st switch is quite a ways from the door. Plus kids just love leaving lights on-this is perfect!

This would definitely be an energy saver in my bathroom and kitchen area. My husband has the habit of leaving both lights on after he has left the area. Having a motion sensor option would be perfect for him, and save some money as well!

I love the idea of convenience and energy savings by automatically turning lights on and off by these fine switches.
