Can’t believe our trip has come and gone already. It was a whirlwind of fun, excitement, and wonderful memories which I now get to share with YOU, my readers!!
We were lucky enough to view a screening of Disneynature’s Monkey Kingdom at the ABC Building in Los Angeles. (The review of the movie will be coming – be sure to check back on April 17th, Monkey Kingdom’s release date.) See the trailer below;
After watching the movie, which was fantastic, we were zipped off to the LA Zoo for a private tour and to continue our celebration of Disneynature and their focus on everything NATURE!! Everyone loves a zoo – right?? I know I do!
I must say that getting to enjoy a zoo and being taken around on golf carts for a private tour is something I have never experienced before, but I could get used to 🙂 . It was all the splendor, fun and attractions of the zoo without the walking and sore feet that usually accompany me on a trip to the zoo (yes I know I need to get into better shape!).
Even Maya, the main monkey in Disneynature’s Monkey Kingdom, was thrilled to experience the LA Zoo.
On our tour of the LA Zoo, we got to see so many wonderful animals. In the picture below, one of the LA Zoo staff members is explaining all about the tigers on exhibit at the LA Zoo.
However, the best part of the tour, for me, was that we got to see so many different kinds of monkeys. After all, we were there to continue our celebration of Disneynature’s Monkey Kingdom.
I have to say my favorite experience of the LA Zoo was getting to listen to the Siamang apes. If you’ve never heard these beautiful animals before, I highly encourage you listen to the video below. I recorded this at the LA Zoo, it is by no means a professional video, but you will get the point of just how much fun the Siamang are and how unique of an experience it was.
Maya hanging out and listening to the Siamang sing.
We were lucky enough to receive information on all of the animals and exhibits we stopped at from the knowledgeable and extremely enthusiastic staff who take care of all of these animals on a daily basis. It is apparent that they love their jobs and the animals love them.
A few fun shots from the LA Zoo:
Of course this zoo visit was unlike any other I’ve ever been on and I’m relatively sure I won’t experience a zoo in this way again. All the more reason to be so grateful to be selected to go on this trip!! As a part of going on this trip, I get to share IMPORTANT information with you regarding opening week of Monkey Kingdom!
If YOU see MONKEY KINGDOM during opening week (April 17-23) Disneynature will make a donation in your honor to Conservation International to help protect monkeys and other endangered species in their natural habitats.
Conservation International will:
1) Protect monkeys and other endangered species
2) Save and restore forest habitats
3) Partner with and support local communities
I encourage you to click HERE to learn all about the wonderful work that Conservation International is doing to keep the worlds endangered species and their natural habitats safe so that our children can enjoy them too, and not only learn about them in books.
PLUS – there is another way to contribute to this worthy cause – Disney Store will donate $1 to Conservation International for every Disneynature Maya and Kip plush purchased between 3/13 and 5/14/2015, they will make a minimum donation of $2000. I am sure your kids will love these plush toys as much as Gradie does, click HERE to buy yours now.
Remember – opening day of Monkey Kingdom is April 17th – I highly encourage you and your family head out to the theater to take in a fantastic, family friendly movie, and while doing so, you’ll be benefiting a wonderful cause!!

I am right there with you about the sore feet thing when walking around a zoo all day. I’m usually loaded up with cameras and more so it is partly my own fault. Ha. That and not being in shape so I guess it is 100% my fault. Let’s just say that riding in a golf cart was a nice perk.

Wow what a fun way to experience the movie. I have never been to the LA zoo before, we are going to San Diego in July, maybe I could talk the hubbs into it. My girls love all animals and I think they would really enjoy the zoo.

I always liked the monkeys. They almost act human at times. Sadly, more so than some people.
