Cardiff Travel Headrest – Product Review

February 22, 2015 By Africa

Cardiff Travel Headrest

I cannot tell you all I have learned about car seat safety; mostly from Jeanna because it’s the one thing we can do to keep Gradie safe in the car. You can’t trust the other drivers, but I can make sure that Gradie is safe, JUST IN CASE.  I saw a photo posted on Facebook of my nephew sleeping in the back seat of the car and he was completely tipped over in the seat so much so the seat belt wasn’t doing anything for him.  I got to thinking what if there was an accident?  Even a fender bender would toss him forward because the seat belt was now across only his stomach, both pieces were.

Does this look familiar? Sleeping in the car without the Cardiff Travel Headrest

I asked around and everyone kept saying you have to teach a child to sleep sitting up in the car. Um, what? I can barely do that.  How do I teach a kid that, even a 10 year old sitting in a booster seat to safely wear a seat belt?  Thank goodness I wasn’t the only one that thought that was insane.

Will and Jason, a couple buddies out of Southern California thought of it too. The developed the Cardiff Travel Headrest.  This ingenious gadget helps bigger kids get some sleep and still be comfortable AND SAFE!  The Cardiff is currently in over 200 retail stores nationwide and Amazon for about $49.99 (prime eligible).

Your child, with the Cardiff Travel Headrest – so much more comfortable & SAFER!!!

It looks more complicated than it actually was to install.  Overall, it was pretty easy and the directions are very clear to follow, plus there are pictures 🙂 !  Hook the Cardiff onto the headrest bars with the included hooks and screw the pieces together, TIGHT.  Once these are tight, you can’t adjust them so make sure you put it at the desired height now.  Remember the rider should have head support at least as high as the tips of their ears. 🙂  Don’t forget when you have a rider and the wings are down on the Cardiff, you should make sure the shoulder belt is routed under the wings to get the proper fit on the shoulder of your little rider, or any size rider for that matter.

How does it work? The Cardiff website says it best “the booster seat headrest features a flexible design that allows for 14 fully adjustable settings to meet the height and comfort needs of users of all sizes.  When not in use, it simply flips up for storage completely out of the way.  The padded arms of the headrest feature solid, padded fabric sleeve which are also removable and machine washable for easy cleaning.”

Have I got you sold on the safety? Or was it the washability?  Or was it the long road trip you yourself plan on and could sleep without the kink in your neck?  I wish I had seen this for all those road trips. 🙂

These would be great for long road trips. My 4 year old is still in a 5-point harness carseat, but my 11 year old (he’s small for his age) could definitely use these.

Wish this product was around when my kids were young. I hated to see them slumped over when they fell asleep. I will be letting people with kids know about this product.

What a clever invention! Oh how I wish this had been available years back when my children were small, but will come in very handy for my grandchildren now! Thank you for supplying us with a great review for the Cardiff Travel Headrest.

I need to get one of these for my granddaughter. She needs to be safe in her booster seat. Her parents go on long trips and she sleeps in odd positions in the car. This is the solution. Thanks for the info.
