I was lucky enough to attend an event over at Creative Kidstuff a couple nights ago. The event was titled – “Grow with Goodness”, which intrigued me as I am always on the look out for ways to be better, healthier, good to the environment etc.
When I first arrived I was greeted with some delicious snacks from Lakewinds Food Co-op. I hadn’t heard about Lakewinds before, but I am so glad I have now. Lakewinds has been a co-op since 1975, today they have three locations with over 16,500 members. Lakewinds specilizes in organic and natural foods with nearly a third coming from local sources. Everyone is welcome to shop at Lakewinds Co-op and I highly recommend you check them out! Take a look at the delicious spread Lakewinds provided for the event. I could have eaten all of that pumpkin bread myself, it was phenomenal.
We were then treated to a demonstration of up-cycling techniques/trends from Mama’s Happy. Being that I am not very creative (I am an accountant after all 🙂 !) this was very interesting for me. They showed us how easy it is to create simple, attractive pieces that you can use at your house these holidays. I took a few pictures I wanted to share, although getting really good photos was hard as there was just so many great pieces they had brought with. Of course if you are just not creative, like myself, you can always head over to one of the 3 Mama’s Happy locations and pick up some of the items they have made – at extremely reasonable prices!! Up-cycling is a great way of reusing items already available to us, and being kind to the planet by not wasting!!
As I said earlier, the event was titled, “Grow with Goodness” – and Creative Kidstuff has this beautifully documented in their store by their fun farm like display, showing items as they go from farm to table. Of course I took some pictures to show you just how cute this display is.
When you shop at Creative Kidstuff you are benefiting some fantastic charities, and you probably didn’t even realize, or you did when you were asked if you would like to contribute to their most worthy causes at check out, either way I wanted to share a little more info with you to showcase the good that Creative Kidstuff is doing in the world;
CHARITIES BENEFITTED:
You Help Us Help Families Play: Did you know that Creative Kidstuff is a part the GreaterGood organization that helps reach thousands of children in need each year? Every time you shop at Creative Kidstuff a portion of the money you spend is allocated to providing toys to children who otherwise would not have access to them.
Now Help Us Help Families Eat: At Creative Kidstuff their Grow with Goodness campaign during August and September will be raising money to provide Haitian families with egg-laying hens. Families and students who receive hens will be taught how to build coops, take care of the hens, and collect eggs, so the families of La Gonave can have a constant source of food.

Wow. I loved this article. I shop at Lakewinds for my vitamins quite often. I will have to spend some more time checking out their food items as these look delicious. And what’s not to like about Mama’s Happy? I love their stuff and enjoy shopping there whenever I get the chance. And the farm-to-table pictures looked like they would be a great learning experience. I always try to buy local whenever I can. I love the farm-to -table concept. This all looks like you had a great time. Glad you wrote the article. Thanks.
