Toddler Snacks – Cereal Covered Bananas

August 24, 2014 By Africa

TODDLER SNACKS – Cereal Covered Bananas!!

As Gradie is getting older I find myself looking for new and fun things for her to eat and snack on.  I thought I’d share some of my ideas with my readers.  I am very new to being a mom of a toddler and am always on the look out for new and exciting meal options for a slightly picky 13 month old little girl, so please do share your ideas with me too, I’ll give it a try and post about it so that we can all benefit from each other – as they say, ‘it takes a village.’

My first toddler snack idea is Cereal Covered Bananas.  First I cut up the banana, I chose to make my pieces a little smaller then you might for an older child.  Next I took a couple handfuls of cereal, I used Crispix this time, but you really could use any kind of cereal you have at home.  I put the cereal into a Ziploc bag and used a rolling pin to crush it.  After the cereal was crushed I placed the bananas in the bag with the cereal, shook it up and TA-DA, we have Cereal Covered Bananas.

It really was that easy and as you can see below, cousin Elliot approves, Gradie does too, except it is a little harder to get a decent picture, all she wanted to do was eat them, no time to stop for mom to snap a picture 🙂

I hope that you are able to make this toddler snack for your little ones and that you’ll share your experiences in the comments below.  Also PLEASE do share other toddler snack and meal ideas with me – I am excited to try make fun, new things and have Gradie experience them, and then in turn share them with all of my readers!!!

That’s a clever idea. A variation of the fruit in the cereal bowl breakfast.

what a fun idea and your daughter is beautiful as mommy 🙂 God Bless…
something I like to try is mixing a handful of cherios ,chex and then pick another favorite, adding your favorite nuts and raisins. mixing them all together and making baggies .. I usually make this for snacking anytime and the baggies are great to grab and go for after school snack or trips ..

Well, you are definitely on your way to making your child happy! That is such a terrific idea you have there! I never thought of that with my kids! Sounds even good to me. I read somewhere about making a trail mix, however, you can always tone it down for a snack for your daughter like cereal (whichever you choose) raisins or dried cranberries (or both) they used M&M’s but I’m not sure if you’d want to use them or not. Maybe mini marshmallows instead and some broken up pieces of pretzel. Put them all in a bowl and mix them all up. You can get those little mini baggies and put some in a few baggies for a “snack on the go” or just as a snack. Just a thought! I’m sure you can come up with something. Just gives her a little bit of a variety at once! Thanks, Michele 🙂
