Study Finds Majority of Moms Are “Sole Decision-Maker” in Car Shopping Process

I don’t know about you, but I have a LONG commute, 40 miles each way, to work every day!!  That is why my car choice depended largely on gas consumption, it had to be amazing.

CHICAGO –Nearly three of four (73%) moms consider themselves to be the “sole decision-maker” in the vehicle shopping process, according to an independent study by C+R Research, commissioned by Cars.com.  As a growing number of consumers turn to online resources for information and transparency when making major purchases, women with children have emerged as a highly engaged group of shoppers.

“There’s a lot for moms to consider when purchasing a new family vehicle, because their car is often tasked with hauling not only the entire family or carpool, but also all of the gear that goes along with them,” said Jennifer Newman, Cars.com Expert Mom. “There’s no such thing as the perfect family car because every family’s needs are different. As a result, it’s essential that shoppers do their research on sites like Cars.com/family to determine which features are a must and narrow down vehicle options. From there, visiting your local dealership for an in-person look and a test drive with the entire family is vital.”  Read more about this study HERE.

    I actually don’t drive! 🙂 I’m legally blind, so I take the city bus and walk everywhere I need to go 🙂 If I COULD have a car tho’, I’d love one of those tiny smart cars! Preferably, one that is self driving lol 🙂

    Ugh. I own a 2000 Jeep Cherokee Classic. Only, I don’t get to drive it anymore, because I can’t fit three carseats in it. I started driving my husband’s 2000 Chevy Silverado extended cab last month when our third was born. I miss my Jeep! This truck just feels too big.

    I normally drive a Dodge Neon however right now we are using the Ford Escape because the Neon needs to be repaired. I drive a Neon because my commute to work was a 3hr round trip and the cost for gas is astronomical. I can’t wait for the Neon to get fixed because the Ford Escape is a gas hog compared to my little Neon. I love my Ford Escape during Maine winter storms with it’s 4wheel drive because it’s great on bad roads but other than that I want my gas saving Neon. Thanks for sharing Cars.com because I will be looking for another Neon or Smartcar soon and I tried out their “Find a New or Used Vehicle” and I found a Neon Identical to mine. How cool is that. I have pinned and bookmarked cars.com for future use.
