Yummi Pouch Reusable Food Pouches
It’s happened our little baby is eating food! We just recently introduced Gradie to pureed foods and it has been so fun! She loves trying new things! Jeanna and I decided well before G was born that we wanted to make our own foods for our little peanut. There was so much research that went into the whole process that I was so excited to find Yummi Pouch!
Yummi Pouch is owned and operated by a husband and wife, mom and dad team out of Washington state right here in the US. Andy and Katie created Yummi Pouch to help parents make good nutritious foods, while keeping the process simple, eco-friendly and cost-effective; (that’s my favorite part)!!!
Yummi Pouches are so easy to fill with our very own recipes for purees, flavored yogurts and smoothies! The reusable pouch design makes it super easy to fill by opening the pouch sipper seal and pouring straight from the blender or for the thicker blends we spooned it in.
I know it seems like a lot of work to make your own food, but it’s really not. Jeanna and I first got started with just 2 Yummi Pouch Minis which hold 2.5 ounces each, that’s seems small but really for Gradie at 6 months that was enough to last through a day of purees at daycare (and we stored the remaining puree that was made in a container in the freezer). Yummi Pouches come in three different sizes from the minis holding 2.5 ounces, the Yummi Pouch original holding 6 ounces and Yummi Pouch Sport holding 10 ounces. A size for every age in the house!
Like I said, we started with the mini bag and found a great recipe from Yummi Pouch we started simple with the fruit and veggie purees then ventured into a Fruity Quinoa Puree and Gradie LOVED IT!
Gradie doesn’t care much for oatmeal so we do a lot with the quinoa which brings up the cost a bit but we have managed to spend less than $15 for a months’ worth of foods for Gradie to have breakfast lunch and dinner. So, after the initial cost of the Yummi Pouch and how much she is eating we started saving money at 7 weeks into eating! I’d say that is a great reason to take 10 minutes a week and puree away but the best reason we do this… we know exactly what is in our Yummi Pouch, no added anything!
All Yummi Pouches are BPA-free and Phthalate-Free, safe for the dishwasher (on the top rack) but not recommended for microwaves! Speaking of dishwashers, these pouches are super easy to clean with warm water and a bottle brush too. Just be sure to completely dry the zipper area with a cloth and allow the pouch to fully dry before putting it away in a cabinet. You can also sanitize the inside of the pouch using a mixture of vinegar and water, followed by a thorough rinse. For more cleaning tips click HERE.
