Tortle, the Pediatrician developed Lightweight Baby Beanie Designed to Prevent or Treat Flat Head Syndrome!!
Now Available at Babies”R”Us, buybuy BABY and on Target.Com
I have quite a few friends who’s little ones have ended up wearing the helmet that is required to repair flat head syndrome in babies. While these little guys/gals look extremely cute in their little helmets I am sure it is every parents desire to prevent our little ones from having to wear them, if at all possible. That is why I am excited to introduce you to the Tortle.
I have learned, since Gradie was born, that little ones surely don’t move about a whole bunch those first few months of life, they do a lot of lying around. With this comes the risk that your baby will develop flat head syndrome. I have also learned that moving their head position isn’t necessarily the easiest thing to do, and that is where the Tortle can help!!
The Tortle is a knit beanie that your little one will wear to help prevent and treat mild flat head syndrome. It is FDA cleared and it makes the job of repositioning your little ones head easier and safer. When your little one wears the Tortle it deflects their head from side to side while they lay on their backs. The Tortle is designed for use from birth until 6 months old, after which time the skull starts to get too hard to make the Tortle effective.
There are 2 different ways to use the Tortle, prevention or treatment. To prevent flat head syndrome you use the Tortle roll behind your baby’s ear to reposition their head, and you change the position of the roll every 2 to 3 hours, for a maximum of 6 to 8 hours of wearing a day.
To treat mild flat head syndrome you place the roll over the baby’s flat spot, which keeps them off that spot. Once their flat spot has corrected itself you would use the Tortle as you do for prevention.
For those of us who are more ‘visual’ take a moment to watch this YouTube video explaining exactly how to use the Tortle;
The Tortle comes in sizes small, medium and large that you use from birth through 6 months of age, and is available in 5 different colors/styles. Below is a picture of Gradie wearing her Tortle in the sweet pink flowers style;
