When I was very young, like 6 or so, my dad had a playhouse built for me, then at Christmas, Santa Claus himself, came to the door and brought me a kitchen cabinet and rolltop desk for the playhouse. I thought for years it was truly Santa!!!! I still have the cabinet and rolltop desk to this day, my daughters and granddaughters all played with it and now my great granddaughter will when she gets old enough as well. Oh, the playhouse? I had it moved when we had girls and it is still at the same farm where it was since the 1970s.

I have very fond memories from all of the camping trips we took while I was growing up. Since my dad was a carpenter, and they didn’t work during the heat of the summer, we camped all summer long – taking 2-3 day breaks at home to do laundry and restock on food and ice. I hope that I have instilled the same kind of love of family time in my kids, even though we’ve stepped up in the world and graduated from tents and port-a-potties to a toy haulin’ RV.

My favorite childhood memory is when I was 8 years old. My mother made me a special doll that I kept all the way till a couple of years back. This doll was special because it was the spitting image of me. I hated losing that doll, but I love the memories that I have of her. She even had the same name the whole time I had her. It was Sharron Marie.
