The Soldiers Tale a Maestro Classics Story in Music
WOW, I would never in a million years thought I would ever listen to an orchestra on CD let along enjoy it! Maestro Classics produces Stories in Music, a classical music CD series for kids 5-12 (parents too!). This CD was perfectly entertaining and educational; the series has won over 45 national awards.
The Soldiers Tale is put to the great stylistic diversity of Stravinsky’s music. It tells of a soldier, “on leave from the army, who trades his old violin for a magic book that can tell the future and make him rich.” He soon discovers that he has made a deal with the devil and that money does not always bring happiness. What Child does not need to learn that lesson? J
The imaginative story is set to the most wonderful music!! It kept me listening all the way through, WITHOUT INTERUPPTION, and, for me, that says a LOT!! The story seemed hectic at times; the music sucks you in with the words and emotions of the tale. You knew when to be chaotic and when to happy with the guidance of the instruments.
The CD comes with a 24-page ‘program’ booklet that tells the story of the soldier with wonderful illustration. It also includes a short biography of Stravinsky the composer of the music.
All-in-all I think this is the PERFECT CD series to introduce your little one to orchestra style music. Visit the Maestro Classics website and take a listen yourself. Now that I got you hooked; how would you like a chance to listen to the CD in its entirety? You can purchase the CD from their website for $16.98 or download it for $9.98. The CD is also available from Amazon.com.
