Well readers of my blog know that I love my dogs as if they were my children!! I would move heaven and earth to keep them safe and healthy, just as I imagine I will when we are lucky enough to be blessed with a child!!
Well for now I got my Ms. Logan and Mr Tanner, who are about to turn 7, on April 26th, and 8, on April 30th, respectively. Unfortunately Tanner has been having problems with his eyes, they started ‘clouding’ over a few months ago and after his annual check up in March the vet told us that he had developed cataracts and that he’d need to see the vet ophthalmologist (who even knew there were vet ophthalmologists?? OK, OK, I didn’t know LOL!!)
Well to make a long story short, Tanner had surgery on his bad eyes, well his bad lenses, yesterday on April 12, 2012. The procedure ‘zaps’ his bad lenses (that is my medical terminology 😉 ) and replaces them with new lenses!! As the lady at the vet said to Jeanna, more than once, we have to remember that his eyes were CUT during this procedure!! I came home from class and got to see my little baby, who had been in the more than capable hands of Jeanna until I got home, and my little guy was sooooooo miserable!!! I feel so, so bad for him!! I know that he will be running around here, driving me crazy again in NO time, but for now I just want to wrap him up in my arms, and hold him tight and tell him that it’ll all be OK!!
His vision has not returned as yet, he is having a hard time walking around, but he is getting better and better as time goes on!! Below are pictures documenting my poor babies day, and his recovery thus far!!

Aww, poor baby! I have a min-pin as well, and I know how you feel about your dogs being your children! Min-pins are known for having eye issues. My 12 year old, Alexis, has had a big white dot on her eye since she was about 3. The vet said it was just fat (??) in her eye and could stay there forever, or float around. It hasn’t moved in 9 years, and now her other eye has one. It doesn’t seem to have affected her in any way though, so far. Praying she won’t develop anything worse with her eyes. We found out last year she is a diabetic though, so she gets 2 insulin shots a day. I pray your Mr. Tanner recovers quickly. He is a adorable!!

I pray that your little one wont have any more issues, diabetes is already too much 🙁

Poor little buddy. All you can do is keep giving him good cuddle time. He’ll feel better soon. Hang in there. I know it’s hard, but it’ll be over soon, and he’s in good hands.

Poor Tanner…I hope he is up and running around (feeling better) soon. It’s funny how our dogs become like our children. We certainly treat ours like a daughter!
