Well I know that it seems every month is dedicated to some sort of ‘awareness’ campaign. And November is no different. Well I should say the month formally known as November ~ Movember!!!
During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces, in the US and around the world. With their Mo’s, these men raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men.
As I am sure people are aware, one seems much more willing to dedicate their time and resources to a campaign once they have being personally impacted by the root cause…….in this instance, for me, it is prostate cancer. My youngest brother, John, started his battle with this disgusting disease when he was just 26 years old. He was successful in his fight, THREE TIMES, to over come the disease and is now cancer free, THANK GOD!!! So with this horrible memory in my mind I choose to blog about this cause!!
The officiating as well as playing communities, from the from the NHL all the way down to peewee hockey, have taken it upon themselves to support this cause with gusto!! More localized to my current state, Minnesota, is a great group of guys (and gals), who I officiate with, that have taken on this challenge. Creating the “Mo Bro” Team that will raise funds to benefit the “Zebras Fight Cancer” Movember fundraiser. Please check out the link, http://www.uo-mobro.com/ to see more of how/who is helping out with this great cause, at the Ultimate Officials blog.
I will make this shameless request (aka beg you) to make a donation, no matter the size, every single cent will help!!! Go to the following link to donate right now:
YES I WANT TO HELP FIGHT CANCER!!
Now, I am sure my dedicated blog readers in the UK, Europe and Africa, are asking BUT HOW CAN WE HELP???? Well I am so glad to tell you that my oldest brother, Dean, and his son (my nephew) Casey, who live in the UK, are also partaking in this challenge and therefore, is also raising funds, in the hope that no one close to YOU will ever have to endure this despicable disease ever again!!!
