WOW……..I have sure being putting this post off!! NOT because I don’t want to write it but because I don’t feel I can do my parents the justice they deserve in a letter. What they have done for me throughout my 31 years on this earth is truly above and beyond what is in a parent “job description.”
They have always supported me and my three brothers in all we did, and they still do. They were the parents who were at every game, match, race, etc. that we had. They were the cool parents so our friends always wanted to come over to our house. They put us first 200% of the time. They were strict, but they were reasonable. I admit I got away with a lot, I was the baby and the only girl………hehe!! 🙂
I can continue to go on and on with all they’ve done for us and all I know they’d still do for us, at the drop of a hat. But I think you get the point, they really are two of the best parents a child could EVER ask for!!!
I owe them so much, so much I know I could never repay!! I just hope, and I pray, that when I am fortunate enough to bring a child into this world that I too can provide my child with everything that they have provided for me. So many people say that they want to be able to give their child more than what they had growing up, for me this would truly be an almost impossible feat. I refer not only to financial means and possessions, I refer to the amount of love we were provided with, the constant support, the shoulder that was always there to cry on when we were SURE our world had fallen apart. I refer to these things, the things money cannot buy!! No matter how hard times were, knowing that you always had a rock solid family to fall back on sure helps you keep your sanity!!
Then there is the part of my life where I ‘came out’, where I had to tell my parents that I was a lesbian, almost the hardest thing I have had to do in life. My parents were there for me, sure there was shock, confusion, the questioning, etc. all of the normal reactions I think most any parent would have when a child comes out. However, none of that lasted for very long, they came around to the fact that this is WHO I AM, and this is, HOW I WAS BORN!! They still love me completely unconditionally, they support me in my lifestyle and they work as hard as they can to truly understand ME, my lifestyle, and my life in general. I could ask for NOTHING more!! How could I?
They support mine and Jeanna’s plans to grow our ‘family’ by bringing a child into the world and I know they will love our children just as much as they love their 9 other grand-kids!!!
