Monday's Random Ramblings Week 1

April 11, 2011 By Africa

Due to the fact that my “original masterpieces” take a considerable amount of time and thought to create, I have now officially named Monday’s:  Monday’s Random Ramblings!!
Last week we discussed the wonderful packaging created by the Japanese for one of their desert items, and I expressed a hope that when the country recovered from its current misfortunes that it would continue to create such wonderful and original packaging for all sorts of food items.

This week’s ramblings will have two random news articles I found as I surfed the world-wide web/enriched my life……

I cannot make this first article up…..it comes from the reliable news outlet – MSNBC.com (their Miami branch).

I may be lookin’ like a fool — but I’m alive
Teen: Baggy pants saved me from alligator bite

A Florida teen says if his pants hadn’t been baggy, he would’ve been bagged by an alligator.

Kendrick Williams of St. Petersburg was walking home from work Monday night when a large gator tried to make him his dinner.

“I heard the hiss, and then I looked down and I seen the alligator on the ground,” the 17-year-old told abcactionnews.com. “I ran. I didn’t look back.”

Williams said the gator, which he estimates was between six and seven feet long, took a bite out of his baggy pants before he ran.

The gator’s teeth tore large holes in the fabric, but Williams and his mom believe that if his pants weren’t baggy, he might have lost a leg.

“That was the advantage of wearing baggy pants that day,” said mom Tanita Murray. “It’s dangerous. If a toddler had been standing there, it (the alligator) would have bit his neck or head.”

Wildlife officers said there are several alligators that live in the pond near where the attack happened and that’s it’s hard to tell which one went after Williams.

The story is likely not welcome news to state lawmakers, who are hoping to push through legislation that would ban public school students from wearing baggy britches.

The best part of this article is in the last line….the fact that state lawmakers find baggy “britches” offensive enough to spend our hard-earned tax dollars to push through a bill to outlaw them in schools.  Stupid me…….I’d have thought that unemployment, hunger, homelessness and those going uneducated would outweigh our need to pass laws to monitor what kids wear to school……but what do I know right??

The last article I chose due to the fact that it clearly shows that allowing ones things to accumulate and not necessarily cleaning/organizing often can, in fact, pay off…..and in some cases this could be very beneficial to ones life!!  (Of course I say this now as I spent the weekend spring cleaning.)

Ga. woman cleans purse, finds winning ticket

FAIRBURN, Ga. — A Georgia woman’s decision to clean out her purse paid off in a big way when she found an old lottery ticket worth $189,302. Fifty-five-year-old Rhonda Williams of Fairburn says she found the winning Fantasy 5 ticket in the bottom of her purse after cleaning it out over the weekend.

WSB-TV reports that the ticket is from a Jan. 17 drawing. Williams picked all of the winning numbers: 18, 25, 28, 29, 35.

Williams says she plans to pay off bills and may take a cruise

I hope you enjoyed the first official week of  Monday’s Random Ramblings…..leave comments on other random items you’d like me to cover, ideas, suggestions etc!!
HAPPY MONDAY TO EVERYONE!!!!
