Manhattan Toy Company, makers of imagination inspiring products, have launched their brand new line – the MiO collection.
Pronounced mee-yoh, this is a line of open-ended toys that has created a lot of buzz in the toy industry and garnered a lot of prestigious awards.
I could tell you all about all these awards and what they are for but I’d much rather share with you why my family LOVES the MiO toys and why I believe your kids will too. We were lucky enough to receive the MiO Sleeping and MiO Eating play sets for Gradie to test out.
I mentioned open-ended play. This is a new concept to me. To be honest I just thought kids played, I don’t really understand all the different ways of doing so. However, after watching Gradie play with the two MiO play sets she received I love the concept.
There’s no prescribed way for her to play. No do this, then do that. It is truly open-ended play. Every time she has sat down to play the configuration of her houses has been different, she works on making a ‘big house’ then a ‘small one’, she looks for ways to park a car and turns the bed into a couch then a bed and a table.

These toys remind me of the toys that I grew up with. Ones that you had to use your imagination in order to play with. You do’t see these types of toys often anymore.

These toys really help with imagination and learning ,without all the bells and whistles of tech that loses that creative side in kids.
