    I turned 30 yrs. old in March and my husband took me and the kids out to eat and surprised me with a beautiful brown and pink flowered tall 8 inch circular cake. It was so beautiful and I honestly thought I wasn’t going to get to eat cake on my 30th because my husband has diabetes and just recently swore off sugar completely and wanted us to follow his lead and not eat sugary things, but he surprised me with that beautiful cake. And, he was strong and did not eat a slice either. He really did it just for me and the kids.

    Every year for my birthday for the past 20-some years, my parents would take me to a racetrack to watch some horse racing. My mother and I are horse fanatics. This past birthday, my father had been diagnosed with a terminal illness (ALS) that is slowly paralyzing him. I now realize that we took our last trip to the racetrack together.     My favorite birthday memory was when I turned 17… my family & my boyfriend blind-folded me, and put 3 different “clues” in my hand (the first was a spring, the second was a little toy mouse, the third was catnip)… then they put a kitten in my hands and took off my blindfold 🙂 That was how I first got my sweet little kitten… The best present I’ve ever received 😉

I was so happy, I finally had 2 numbers in my age and not just one number. I didnt have a cake, but the spaghetti was yummy. Since then, I lost my dad, then lost my uncle and 2 years ago, I lost my mama..but I wont lose the memory of my favorite birthday..I have even told my grandkids about it.
